Fun Global Change Activism with USPirg

rally.gifI get a lot of emails from U.S.Pirg about petitions and calling senators to support environmental legislation, but this Photographic Petition looks particularly fun so maybe it could be a Coop/Sustain You community activity at the potluck tomorrow! Here’s the email:

“You’ve done a lot of things to communicate with your elected officials in the past: written emails, signed petitions, even made phone calls. But global warming is such a crucial and urgent issue, I think it calls for a special action.

Let’s show our members of Congress the face of the fight against global warming. We can’t all make a trip to D.C. to hold a rally in front of the capitol, but we can do the next best thing. Join people across the country in an “online rally” by taking a photo of yourself holding a sign with our campaign slogan: “Global warming… Be part of the solution, not part of the pollution”, submitted by Chuck of Farmersville, OH. We’ve created a sign that you can print off for your photo, or you can make your own. We’ll deliver the photos to your member of Congress and ask them to co-sponsor the Safe Climate Act.

Follow these four simple steps to participate in the rally:

1) Download and print a sign here. Or, be creative and make your own sign!

2) Have someone take a picture of you holding the sign

3) Send your picture to this email address photos@uspirg.org”

Alright Jason, get your printer going! Or let’s make our own sign!
